Treaty Struggles

FAI Cup: Game 1

Treaty United 0-1 Dundalk (aet)

Our FAI Cup journey got started on Sunday with an almighty struggle against first division side Treaty United.

In what felt like a match pattern we’ve seen so many times before Dundalk dominated possession but a) didn’t create enough chances or b) couldn’t take the chances when they did create them.

As always I’m open to correction but my memory of Vinny Perth’s first stint in charge featured a lot of games like this where we dominated possession and snuck an odd goal to win. This happened to Fillippo’s team too but without the goals to sneak wins.

We avoided trouble on Sunday thanks to Alessio Abibi and some heroic defending from three full backs and one undroppable centre back.

Treaty made it to extra time thanks to Tadhg Ryan who was the talk of Dundalk FC twitter because of his performance and because of the club’s decision not to keep him on at the start of the season.

Some of the other decisions made by the club also made the twitter headlines as talk of pre match meals and awkward journey times made it just another chaotic Dundalk fc match day.

P.s. Absolutely love the formality of the team sheet.
